If you’re trying to sell a car why would you not at least do a quick cleaning? Especially if you are a freaking dealer.

I tried to test drive an ecoboost Flex from Al Piemonte Ford about five years ago. When I say tried to, I mean I drove a Flex that I was told was an ecoboost, but it wasn’t. Salesman was a stereotypical lying sack of shit. Anyways, the interior was COVERED in cigarette ashes.

We were looking at older Odysseys a while ago, and the salesperson showed us one they had just received on trade that hadn’t been detailed yet. The previous owner was a dog person, and the entire interior was covered in dog hair and funky dog smell. She wasn’t going to let us drive it anyway, but I don’t think I would have wanted it even after they cleaned it. I said a silent blessing for the guys who would have to clean it.

Al Piemonte Ford! Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time. A long time.
I also grew up watching WGN on Saturday mornings, with the commercials for Bert Weinman Ford.
35-35 North , on Ashland Avenue.

Some dealers want to get these things for sale so
so fast that sometimes the engines aren’t even cold before the listing goes up.

I mean sure, but put the listing up with a stock photo of the vehicle while you clean it. I imagine showing it like this probably turns off more than a few potential buyer.

Dealerships, have the people and equipment, there is no reason for a dirty vehicle.
It’s like when I see a car on Autotrader at a dealership and the car is wet from a quick wash of had been left out in the rain. Dry the sodding car, make it look it’s best and then take some pictures for goodness sakes.

Looked at an RX350 once that I think was owned by horses. Hair and dust everywhere and I think I saw hoof prints in the headliner.

Russ D arrow can go fuck themselves.
Dro ve a 2014 Ford Escape, the wind noise from the front glass was overwhelming, naturally the salesman, didn’t notice anything. they also billed it as the 2.0 Ecoboost when in reality it was the NA 2.5. Much dissapointment. Naturally, despite doing everything wrong they insisted on trying to get us to sit down and agree on pricing, we not so politely refused and thanked them for wasting our time.

some dealers list quick for hot items, some list quick to get it out there and then it goes through detail. Some do service and a quick clean then an additional clean upon sale. Carmax seems to go that route due to the volume on the lot.

I’ve never dealt with them, but that’s 2 experiences already that paint them as the stereotypical sleazy dealer

When van shopping, came to a sketchy used dealer only because they had a first gen Transit Connect passenger van. Check engine, airbag, and ABS lights were on, and the b rakes failed as I pulled back into the dealer from a test drive. Th ey said they’ll fix the issues for $500 off the already steep price of $14,000. Nope

Super gross that it has a Camry Dent on right rear bumper and that has to be a CVT. I say that because I don’t remember flappy paddles being available on the 5sp A/T.

From a couple other replies they sound like the stereotypica l sleazy car dealer. So investing in a proper website and online presence is low on their totem pole.
